Today’s black history moment celebrates current history makers President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The two were married October 3, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married at Trinity United Church of Christ. Their reception was held at South Shore Cultural Center.

Wedding song selections included “You & I” by Stevie Wonder and “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole. The couple honeymooned on the California coast.

Are you wishing for a romantic weekend getaway or vacation? I would like to go to warm weather destination right about now – anywhere in the Caribbean (Antigua, Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia) or Cabo San Lucas. Even Australia might be nice. I heard that it’s warm there.

Valentine!

I honestly don’t know what I want. My husband is pretty good about getting great gifts for me. Last year was our first Valentine’s together as husband and wife and I got what I wanted and more. I am a fan of Sex & The City so I got the movie, the book, and another book – along with some candy and some other stuff. Valentine’s was great. I made a nice homecooked meal and and then we enjoyed a few movies.

By the way, it’s time to start ordering or making gifts for your sweetie. If you haven’t already, then start listening for things that he may enjoy as gifts. Is there anything in particular that you are wishing for?

Don’t forget to register cozy accents for your home.

Candles are so romantic. Just think about nice candlelight dinners between you and your sweetie. You can do this once a month, once a week – the possibilities are endless. Candles in the bedroom are nice to set the mood along with soft music.
Baskets – I love to have baskets in the home for various things. My puppies toys are in a cute little basket that blends in with our decor. I also use baskets to hold my kitchen towels and cloth napkins as we have minimized the use of paper towels.
Dining & Entertaining - You definitely need a nice set of dishes for everyday use as well as special occasions. If you just had to choose one, then I would go for a nice neutral color that I could use for both casual and formal dining. If you like entertaining a lot, then I would go for cute little appetizer plates as well.
